COSTUME MAKING NIGHT

— CarniValentines —

Every garment we don tells a story – not just to ourselves, but as a gift to those around us. Our costumes are offerings of creativity, vulnerability, and trust to our community.

In the act of crafting and wearing them, we touch upon something profound: the power to transform, to play, to reveal hidden aspects of ourselves.

Get ready for an fabulous evening of crafting, creativity, and community as we prepare for our upcoming CarniValentines celebration on February 14th.

What we’ll be making:

In our workshop, we’ll be working with that signature Carnival costume element - feathers! You will have the chance to create either a towering feather headpiece or a sexy harness with your plumage.

WE PROVIDE:

  • All essential materials (feathers, straps, jewels, rhinestones)

  • Expert guidance and step-by-step instructions

  • Templates and design inspiration

  • Tools for assembly

WHAT TO BRING:

Your imagination and enthusiasm! Plus any additional embellishments to pimp your creation. This workshop is more than just a crafting session—it's a chance to connect with your fellow Carnival lovers. Share ideas, get inspired, and maybe even find your tribe before the big event.

No prior crafting experience necessary! :) We believe that everyone is an artist at heart, and love seeing our community co-creating their contributions as part of the massive collective art-project that each night becomes. Just check out the photos from our last costume workshop. To all the talented makers/artists/creatives in our community - we hope you can join us and share your knowledge and skills!

The workshop will be led by the fabulously creative Ines Taylor, Karinne, Andy, and Naila, who have been instrumental in all our costume workshops and Makers’ Nights…

This workshop is for our next large event at Studio 338 on Friday 14 February, where we emerge with joy & passion from the doldrums of Winter to embrace the first glimmers of Spring, communion, connection. Our pageant merges the old pagan/Christian festival of love, Valentines, with the pre-Lent spirit of Carnival, where we explode with festivity and abandon. We invite the spirit of The Trickster who dances at the edge of convention, challenging boundaries with playful wisdom. The Lover embodies passion, connection, and the sacred art of desire…
