January Workshop: Somatic Erotic Storytelling

  • The Island Queen 87 Noel Road London, England, N1 8HD United Kingdom (map)

BODY LANGUAGE:

a somatic erotic storytelling workshop

“We have been raised to fear the yes within ourselves, our deepest cravings. For the demands of our released expectations lead us inevitably into actions which will help bring our lives into accordance with our needs, our knowledge, our desires...”

― Audre Lorde, Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power

What stories live in the hollow of your throat? The softness of your thigh? The secret spaces between thought and desire? What happens when we let our bodies guide our stories?

In our next monthly meetup, we will explore words - & bodies. Part storytelling and writing, part somatic workshop, we will gently shape our sensual sentences on the skin of others, and submit an area of our own skin (of our choosing) in return.

WRITING FROM THE BODY

Here, in this intimate space, we dissolve the boundaries between body and text. Between what we dare to feel and what we dare to write. As we use each other’s bodies as a canvas we’ll see how a single letter can hold as much heat as touch. Watch as lines transform into letters, letters into words, trailing across skin like whispered secrets. Feel the power build as words become sentences, as your story begins to pulse with life. When flesh becomes parchment, what stories will you dare to tell?

“And the fear of our deepest cravings keeps them suspect, keeps us docile and loyal and obedient, and leads us to settle for or accept many facets of our oppression.”

― Audre Lorde, Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power

The erotic isn't just about sex – it's the spark of life itself, our creativity, our generative force; the electric current that runs through our deepest connections and most vivid moments of aliveness. When we tap into this power, our writing transcends mere description to touch something primal and true.

Join us for this intimate gathering exactly one month before we explode into the wild festivities of CarniValentines – our larger celebration of love in all its forms.

What in us can awaken with the spring?...
